Starting with a vision to generate extra income for the family, Sandy Foust began fabricating printed circuit boards on the back porch of her and Gary's 19th Century farmhouse in rural Kansas. The company quickly grew beyond a part time job and now - over 26 years later - S and Y continues to grow at an incredible rate with Sandy still actively at the helm. Under her leadership, the company has received several awards including Inc 5000 fastest growing companies in America 2009 and 2010! There have been many changes over the years, including several construction projects to add space to the existing building. Today, S and Y Industries has over 70 employees and operates in more than 50,000 sq. ft. of space. Two of her children currently serve as executives with the company.

Prior to forming the company, Sandy spent the 70's honing her executive skills at Sea Pine Plantation on Hilton Head Island, catering to people like golf legend Arnold Palmer and world-champion tennis pro Arthur Ashe. She spent the later part of the decade as a tour guide to Mrs. Beech at Beech Aircraft in Wichita, KS. Sandy was responsible for escorting high profile customers around the facility and giving them their first tour of their personal airplanes. Bruce Jenner and Christopher Reeves were a just couple of customers Sandy had the privilege of hosting. During that same period, Sandy tried her hand at selling Mary Kay cosmetics and quickly realized that she was meant for other adventures!

Sandy recently celebrated 36 years of marriage to Gary, who has quietly been a pillar of support to S and Y from the beginning. Sandy also owns Josephine & Co. (a retail store that touts a unique collection high-quality, one-of-a-kind furniture and home decor) and Posh (a classy boutique filled with trendy fashions, accessories, jewelry, and gifts). She has four children, nine grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. Sandy believes that along with her success comes an obligation to help those less fortunate. Her philanthropic endeavors are reflected in her continuing support for Tapa Orphanage in Nairobi, Kenya, the Cowley County Humane society, and various other charities.
